WMF 'Echo' toilet easel mirror, officially titled ‘The First Cuckoo’. Frame has a maiden on the right hand side, dressed in a flowing robe, leaning in front of the mirror, with her left hand to her ear. Her face reflects in the mirror. Flowers decorate the top right and bottom left corners. The frame holds a probable replacement mirror but has the original wooden backing. An arm is attached to the wooden backing to form a support. Maker's marks impressed to the back of one foot - 'WMF', 'EP'- Electro-plated, 'I/O' - normal thickness of plating/gilding, and 'as' - Antique silver finish. Similar piece illustrated on page 295, 'Art Nouveau Domestic Design from Wurttembergische Metallwaren Fabrik' published by the 'Antique Collectors Club'.
