Colours greens, red, yellow, pale blue, browns and cream. Signed and dated 'Eliza Saunders Aged 12 1814'. Placename 'Dickleburgh' is a village in Norfolk, England. A wonderful set of motifs, some finely embroidered, including Adam & Eve standing either side of the tree of life with a snake coiled around its trunk, lions, birds, flowers, trees, laden with fruit, stags, fir trees, sheep grazing in a meadow, bees, butterflies and stars. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, dimpled, old glass. Mounting: The sampler is mounted onto card and stretched over a wooden board. Frame backed with brown paper.
