The sampler is finely worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering strawberry border. Colours greens, magenta, copper and pale blue. Verse reads, 'The lord my pasture shall prepare>And feed me with a shepherds care>His presence shall my wants supply>And guard me with a watchful eye>My noon day walks he shall attend>And all my midnight hours defend'. Signed and dated, 'Jane Ball Aged 11 years 1849'. A good and unusual set of motifs, including a house, potted flowering plants, birds and rabbits
