Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-7 Verse reads, 'Teach me to feel another's woe> To hide the fault I see> That mercy I to other's show> That mercy show to me'. Signed and dated, 'Sarah Pountain 1832 September 18th'. A good set of motifs, including lions, potted flowering plants, trees, laden with fruit, fruit baskets, crowns, stars and flowers. Bears features that indicate the sampler may be from Norfolk - stepped lozenge around the alphabet; cartouche placeholders for the name and date. Framed in an old, gilded, gesso frame with glass. Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
