The sampler is very finely worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering floral border. Colours greens, cream, gold, red and pink. Verse reads, 'With care and cost this have I wrought>and finish with A Virgin thought>and by this work you plainly see>the care my prents took of me'. Signed and dated, 'Ann Boutle Her Work Done 1835'. A wonderful set of motifs, including flowers, birds, angels, potted flowering plants, crowns, hearts, butterflies diamonds and stars.
