Verse entitled, 'The lilly of the Valley' reads, 'Come my love and do not spurn.>From a little flower to learn.>Let your temper be as sweet.>As the lily at your feet.>Be as gentle be as mild,>Be a modest simple child.>Pretty lillies seem to be Emblems of humilty>And the saviour from above>Views a humble child with love.'. Signed and dated, 'ELIZA GOLDING AGED ELEVEN YEARS 1845'. A good set of motifs, including potted flowering plants, stars, birds, flowers, fir trees, and butterflies. Framed in an old, gilded, gesso frame with rippled, old glass. Tacked to a wood stretcher frame. Black paper backing.
