The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering floral border. Colours yellow, cream, green, gold, white, black, pink and pale blue. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-15 Verse reads, 'Love and kindness please god more>Than if we gave him all our store>And children here who dwell in love>are like his happy ones above'. Signed and dated, 'Anne lawrence Aged 15 Years 1832'. A good set of motifs, some finely embroidered, including fruit baskets, dogs, birds, flowers, potted flowering plants, trees, laden with fruit, stags, squirrels, fir trees, a parrot and butterflies
