The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering floral strawberry border. Colours browns, white, blues and cream. Verses read
'To God above and to your friends below - Still let your breast with zeal and duty glow>Much to your Parents more to Heaven you owe>Shouldst thou refuse thy parents needful aid. The very STORK might the foul crime upraid>Be mindful how they reared thy tender youth. Bear with their frailties serve them still with truth>So may'st thou with long life and peace be blest - Till Heavn shall call thee to eternal rest'
and
'Long may the King great Britain's Sceptre sway - May all his Subjects peaceably obey>And when God's Providence shall him remove - From these below to highest Realms above>To his own Race may he the Crown resign - For ever to continue in that Line>The happiest Man that ever breath'd on Earth - With all the Glories of Estate and Birth>Had yet some anxious Care to make him know - No Grandeur was above the reach of Woe'.
