The sampler is worked in fine silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering floral border. Colours green, cream, gold, black, brown and pink. Verse reads 'Be this my earliest care.>To Jesus throne to fly>And in my youth that reason fair.>To meet the fate of all, prepare,>Since death may now be nigh.'.
Signed and dated 'Mary Gibbins Aged 10 Years 1845'.
