The sampler is very finely worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout. Meandering floral border. Colours gold, cream, blue, yellow, black, pink, browns and greens. Signed and dated 'Ann Gording Age 14 Years 1836'. A wonderful set of motifs, some very finely embroidered, including a stag, dogs, birds, flowers, potted flowering plants, a squirrel, trees, crown, a cat, a peacock, butterflies and a snail.
