The sampler is worked in silk and cotton on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering strawberry border. Colours pink, cream, blue, yellow, navy blue, dark brown, magenta, copper and olive green. Family initials and the name, 'Mrs BrowN'. Inscription reads, 'O come and>let us worfhip him>let us bow down withal>and on our knees before the Lord>our maker let us fallf or hes our god>the people we of his own pafture> are and of his hand the>fheen today if ye>his voice will>heat psalm>XCV'. Signed with initials and dated 'Agnes Rob my Work 1804'. A good set of motifs, some finely embroidered, including potted flowering plants, birds, rabbits, fruit baskets, fir trees, peacocks and diamonds.
