The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout. Colours greens, red, yellow, orange, blues and pink. Family initials. Verse entitled 'The Lords Prayer' reads 'Our Father which art in>Heaven hallowed be thy name>thy Kingdom come thy will be done>in Earth as it is in Heaven give us>this day our daily bread and forgive>us our trefpafses as we forgive>them that trefpafs against us and>lead us not into Temptation but>deliver us from evil for thine is the>Kingdom and the power and the>glory for ever and ever Amen'. Signed and dated 'Mary Cope ended this work in the Year 1741'. A meandering floral garland motif.
