Pair 1848 samplers by Martha Barlow. Framed in an old wood frame with glass. Fixed to wood. The sampler is worked in wool and silk-like thread on linen and canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout. Colours pink, cream, peach, blues, light brown, white, black, red and greens. Signed and dated 'Martha Barlow Finished her Work 1848' & 'MARTHA.BARLOW 1848'. A scattering of motifs, including angels, a dog, birds, fruit baskets, fir trees, potted flowering plants and a lady holding a flower in each hand.
