The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering floral border. Colours green, cream, copper, pink, brown and red. Verse reads 'Through all the changing scenes of life,> In trouble and in joy,> The praises of my God shall still> My heart and tongue employ'. Signed and dated 'Isabella Lickfold, Aged 9 years 1850'. A good set of motifs, including a house with a garden, birds, potted flowering plants, trees, crowns a building with a flag, fleur de lis and butterflies.
