The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout. Meandering floral border. Colours greens, pale blue, gold, black, pink, brown and cream. Verses read 'JESUS my all to heaven is gone>He whom I fix my hopes upon>His track I fee and Ill purfue>The narrow way till him I view'. Signed and dated 'Elizabeth Infield Aged Ten Years December the Second 1796'. A good set of motifs, some finely embroidered, including flowers, diamonds, dogs, birds, stags, deer, fir trees, crowns, potted flowering plants, robins and squirrels
