The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout. Meandering floral border. Colours brown, red, pale blue, copper, blue and cream. Inscription reads 'Remember thy Creator> in the days of thy> youth'. Verse reads 'Son of God thy blessing grant> Still supply my every want> Tree of life thy influence shed> With thy sap my spirit feed'. Signed and dated 'M A Cutting her work Finish'd Octr 14 1811'. A good set of motifs, including angels playing trumpets, potted flowering plants, stags, squirrels, fir trees, birds and fruit baskets.
