The sampler is worked in a silk-like thread on canvas ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye. Meandering floral border. Colours greens, cream, browns, gold and blue. Alphabets A-V in upper case. Verse reads 'God is a Spirit and they that worship him must worship him>in spirit and in truth. John IV. Ver. 24 G.H.S. H.S.Y.'
