The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering strawberry border. Colours blue, cream, dark brown, gold, pink, greens and black. Verse reads 'When to the house of God we go>To hear his word and sing his Love>We ought to worship him below>As saints and angels do above'. Dated 'This Sampler Was Work'd At Mrs Pasks School Halsted Essex In The Year 1822'. The signature is not legible anymore. A good set of motifs, some finely detailed, including a church motif entitled 'A north easr view of Halstead Church Essex', stars, flowers, potted flowering plants, stags, squirrels, a second church, a house, owls, insects and peacocks.
