The sampler is worked in silk and fine wool on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Divider lines in various patterns. Colours pink, cream, yellow, green, pale blue, gold, white, black and red. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case, numbers 1-18, and family initials. Signed and dated 'Ann Marshal Aged 13 years my sampler was sewed in the year 1797'. A good set of motifs, including two figures with their dogs, birds, flowers, potted flowering plants, fruit basket, crowns, a peacock, hearts and cockerels.
