1834 Religious Sampler by Mary Ann Wilkinson. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass. Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing. The sampler is worked in cotton-like threads on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout. No border. Colours red, blue, yellow, light brown, greens and white. Alphabets A-W in upper case. Verse reads 'Come children join the angelic throng>As Jesus feet who fall>Come raise with them your infant song>To crown him Lord of all> When he laid by his robes of light>And dwelt upon this ball>He kindly children did invite> To crown him Lord of all>His wondrous love did never despise>The gifts of children small>Who sung hosannas to his praise>And crown him Lord of all>And now he reigns on thrond above>He still does children call>To seek his face and them he'll love>O crown him Lord of all>Ten thousand angels round his throne>Before him prostrate fall>And num'rous children join the song>To crown him Lord of all'.
